The Need
Corn is a vital pillar of the Philippine agricultural economy, yet smallholder farmers in Cagayan and Isabela continue to face systemic barriers that limit their potential. Limited access to technical knowledge, outdated post-harvest practices, and inadequate infrastructure drive significant crop losses and reduce the quality of yield — leaving farmers unable to meet market standards and earn stable incomes. Without targeted investment in farmer capacity, modern facilities, and stronger market linkages, cooperatives and the communities that depend on them risk remaining locked out of the growth the sector is capable of delivering.
The Intervention
AgriSagana II integrates digital capacity development, infrastructure modernization, and inclusive business linkages. It equips farmers and cooperatives with knowledge in Good Agricultural Practices, financial literacy, and climate-resilient farming through the Corn Academy and the Virtual Cooperative Learning Hub — bringing structured learning directly to farming communities. It upgrades post-harvest facilities into Eco-Smart infrastructure powered by renewable energy to reduce crop losses and improve product quality, and connects cooperatives directly to institutional markets through procurement arrangements and quality management support — building a more productive, resilient, and market-ready corn supply chain.
