The Need
Clean water should not be a privilege — yet for many families in Mindoro, it remains out of reach. Among the Mangyan people and other rural communities across the province, access to safe drinking water is uncertain at best, leaving households vulnerable to waterborne diseases, poor sanitation, and the compounding risks of climate-related disasters. The absence of something as fundamental as clean water doesn’t just affect health — it shapes every part of daily life.
The Intervention
Project SPLASHED integrates water infrastructure, community-based management, and local capacity development. It installs EcoWater Dispensers powered by LifeStraw filtration technology to bring reliable safe water access to households that have long gone without, trains community members as LifeStraw Champions to maintain and manage the systems, and certifies local stakeholders to lead water management and education efforts — ensuring that what is built today is owned, sustained, and protected by the communities it serves.
