sustainABILITY II: Green Skills Institute
Connecting Technical Education to the Green Economy Through Curriculum, Training, and Industry Partnership
The Need
Technical and Vocational Education and Training holds enormous potential to drive workforce readiness, yet TVET systems across the Philippines are struggling to keep pace with the demands of a rapidly shifting green economy. Institutions, teachers, and industry professionals lack the training, resources, and partnerships needed to weave green skills — climate change mitigation, resource efficiency, and sustainable production — into their curricula, leaving graduates underprepared for the jobs that are already emerging. Without deliberate investment in green competency development across the TVET ecosystem, the disconnect between education and evolving labor market needs will only widen, cutting off students and communities from the opportunities a sustainable economy can provide.
The Intervention
sustainABILITY II integrates curriculum development, educator capacity building, and industry partnership into a holistic framework for green skills adoption. It strengthens TVET institutions by embedding supplementary green skills modules into existing curricula, equips teachers and industry professionals with the competencies needed to deliver relevant, future-ready training, and bridges the gap between TVET graduates and labor market needs through the introduction of GreenJobs.Ph — a dedicated platform connecting green economy job seekers with industry opportunities — alongside meaningful engagement with industry stakeholders, building a more responsive, climate-ready workforce from the ground up.
